Calera y Chozas

In Calera y Chozas we discovered: its Train station, the Hermitage of the Virgin of Chilla, the Hermitage of San Policarpo, and the parish church of Saint Peter the Apostle, the latter next to the landscaped square of the locality.

Two prominent festivities are celebrated throughout the year. The festivities of Holy Christ of Chozas take place on September 13 and 14, with a program that includes flower offerings, folk dances, parade floats, giants and big-heads, street parties, bulls, shows, and contests, in addition to religious events. On the other hand, the Pilgrimage of Our Lady the Virgin of the Vega is celebrated in honor of the patroness and features a pilgrimage, street parties, shows, and various religious celebrations.

The gastronomy of Jaraíz is based on local products and traditional recipes, highlighting dishes such as stewed partridge, lamb and kid roasts, shepherd's crumbs, venison and wild boar sausages, as well as products from the slaughter. Fruits, vegetables, and honey of high quality also stand out. In pastry, typical items include roquillas, pestiños, perrunillas, and buñuelos. In Calera y Chozas, specialties such as calerano gazpacho, kid entrecôte, and beef chop are notable.
